  1. It's an institution for one half of our family...lol

    And this year, particularly poignant....

Singer and wife wrote/performed the song, but he dies...his mates get together and sing it instead - and then qualify for the final.

Although not to my taste, it's a good eurovision song - spark's tip to win!

PS. Were I a politician I'd have to declare an interest. I know it sounds like the cliched 'everyone knows everyone' in Iceland, but one of the band members is a boyfriend of my sister in law! Pity they sung it in English as it sounds better in Icelandic !

  2. All1

If you are going to use your old speakers (and they're 'portable'), I'm sure they'll hook them up for you - just give 'em a call.

Alternatively I've previously bought from them, taken home, and returned if not quite right.

  3. I'd pop down to your nearest Richer Sounds, and have a chat and a listen to some of their offerings (including Denon).

I've bought from them ever since visiting their original store in the late seventies!

(and their 5 year guarantee at 10% of purchase cost is the only guarantee I've ever bought)

  4. I had a chuckle at that when I first heard it on 5live...

I admire people who don't change their viewpoint simply because they have aged!

There is another point that rich smug gits like Piers Moron just don't understand....Whilst there is a temporary economic 'bonus', that money is not spent elsewhere so overall there is no gain.

But there are the hidden costs. The wife's firm is a non profit making charity that provides services for social care....On top of the 20% savings they are struggling to make this year, the enforced bank holiday cost them £40k....So they have no choice but to lose two workers, and she has to personally fire one of them!

Still, at least they can comfort themselves with the fact that they will have contributed towards all that self indulgence!

Oh, and it gets better...next year we have the jubillee 'celebration' for the scrounger in chief...That'll only cost £38k (due to everyone having an enforced 5% pay cut), but will mean a further two job losses!

These are jobs that won't come back, and are not only personal tragedies but an erosion of care for very needy people! :Furious:

btw...whilst plod were arresting people 'on suspicion' before committing a crime, why did they not do anything when a blatant offence took place - namely two different plates on daddy's aston on the 'queens highway'!

    More to come next year!

    A taste of the future?

All together now...(to the tune of yellow submarine)

"we all live in a fascist regime..

    a fascist regime

    a fascist regime"!

  5. A topical easter topic, but one that is slightly different this year...

Forget whether it'll be ice creams or brollies, but the UK crops are under a serious risk!

I've never known a growing season like it, coupled with a lack of rain. Our plants are at least 1 month ahead of schedule (I've already got chilli flowers on our hottest ones, when usually they've just germinated!). And our 2000L water storage capacity is now down to about 100L...We've only had to resort to tap water once before, and that was in August !...Even if we now get above average rainfall, it won't recover for the season..

Rumour has it that the government emergency committee cobra (aka w*nk tank), has already met as regards food security, because if we get a week of cold weather UK wide (like last may), we may find that our food supply is decimated!

Remember where you heard it first... :Winky:

  6. I believe when filling in the 2001 form (shame on me!), I got my DOB wrong by a century..

They never came back to me to correct it, so maybe I should ask them if I am now the world's oldest person...

  7. So the benefit scrounger's wedding is to take place and what does plod intend to do?

    Scotland Yard plans pre-emptive strike

No, not against any new (old?) bogey man, but against those who have actually not been proved to have done anything wrong...

Keen to prevent the scenes of disorder which accompanied the TUC march last month, the Metropolitan Police says it plans to identify and potentially arrest known trouble-makers in advance of the wedding on April 29.

    Known troublemakers?

Surely our justice system must mean those who have been convicted of an offence?

A police source said: “The same faces often re-appear at different protests and we will try and take a pre-emptive strike against them.”

So, merely being a protestor merits arrest?

And lets try and mix things up shall we... :Winky:

While officers are attempting to gather intelligence on anarchists, Scotland Yard have said that there is no specific intelligence to suggest that the event will be the subject of a terrorist attack. Officers will not, therefore, be able to use stop and search powers under terrorism legislation, but will have other stop and seach powers available.

Of course the zeal with which plod will 'police' this pathetic event will have nothing to do with...

Policing the event is expected to cost millions, with officers receiving double time because the wedding day has been made a bank holiday.

    Cnuts!... :Furious:

  8. Sorry to hear that nothing much has changed CD..

I wonder if it will be the same situation when we revisit Japan in a years time..

The 'lottery' of where you are born sucks!!
