  1. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Not for me !!!!!! A friend is looking to buy a Mac lappy as he wants to get into coding of games and he's been persuaded that a Mac is the way to go. I'm going with him to the nearest "big town" Karlstad, tomorrow morning, but neither of us have a clue what to look for, and as there's no Mac store there, we are having to go to normal retailers, and I really don't want to see him get taken by some flash salesman on a percentage !!! He doesn't want anything too flashy, complicated, overloaded with bumph, or large (15" is about as big as he wants to go), but he needs something that will last him a few years at least. He's got his eye's on this one: http://www.siba.se/datorer/barbara-datorer/macbook/apple-macbook-pro-mgxa2s-a-113781 (Sorry it's in Swedish Goolie translate it :-) ) Personally I think the hard drive is pitiful !!!! What would you McFans advise.........
  2. Isn't the name Rothschild at the top of the pyramid whichever way you look into it
  3. The cops will not show up unless Crapita have been to court and got a warrant and you've still refused them entry. In order to get that warrant they have to prove that they have evidence that you are using a TV or other apparatus to receive live broadcasts without a licence. As simple "he wouldn't let us in" is not nearly good enough. They have NO right of entry without the warrant, and without getting in how are they going to prove you are watching without a licence ? TV detector vans don't exist any more, the technology they used to use is so outdated that it is next to useless with modern equipment. They worked by using a pair of DF loop antenna's to detect and directionally pinpoint a weak radio signal given off by an oscillator circuit in the TV tuner circuit, the frequency of the signal varied depending on what channel you were tuned into, and by triangulating the direction of the signal, they could pinpoint the reciever. That is all they detected, and nothing else, in spite of what they claimed on the old detector van scareverts.
  4. Sorry Cobra, but most of that is a load of bollocks. You DO NOT need a licence for any computer, unless it has a TV card fitted (EDIT: it must also be connected to an aerial and tuned in to a a receivable station) or you use it to stream LIVE TV. Catchup TV does not require a licence. And as for your mate, he must have been bent double and taking it up the arse if he accepted those lies about his TV. The slime from Crapita will lie though their back teeth to get people to pay up, they are on commission so it pays well for them to do so. The people from Crapita have NO RIGHT of entry to your home without a court warrant, and you can simply write to them telling them you no longer use a TV so you don't need a licence, they "should" then remove you from their lists. They may however write to you each year just to check that the situation hasn't changed. Alloneword, and anyone else for that matter, if you want to find out more about dumping the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation from your list of blood (money) suckers go here: http://www.tvlicenceresistance.info/forum/index.php
  5. HEADS UP people There's a new Facebook worm going round through the messaging system. If you receive a message from someone named Daa Watson, DO NOT open it, not only is it a scam similar to the Nigerian 419 (google 419 scam if you don't know what that is), but if you open it, it will retrieve your friends list and then send itself out to all of them as well. If you see the name Daa Watson in your inbox, send it to archive IMMEDIATELY, WITHOUT opening it, you cannot delete it, but if you block Daa Watson it will then disappear from your archive. To stop any possibility of getting this message, or to get rid of it if you have it, go to your security settings and block Daa Watson from contacting you. I had my messaging set to "Friends of Friends", so I'm assuming that it gets round the settings some way as well, because it showed up in my inbox this morning. Remember, DO NOT OPEN IT, just bin it and block the sender.
  6. ^^^^ Blue Etch a Sketch...... now that's a blast from the past
  7. C'mon, spill the beans, lets see a few of those old names of yours
  8. Hopefully nobody here has been infected by this particularly nasty piece of crap that's currently doing the rounds, if you don't know about it then you should educate yourselves, have a read of this page: http://www.secureworks.com/cyber-threat-intelligence/threats/cryptolocker-ransomware/ To put it in a simpler form: http://grahamcluley.com/2013/11/cryptolocker-protect/ If you make sure that you are up to date with your anti virus definitions, and you are careful about clicking on email attachments that you don't recognise, then you should be safe against it, but there are a couple of programs out there that protect against it installing itself even without anti virus software installed, this one for example: http://www.foolishit.com/vb6-projects/cryptoprevent/ A favourite form of infection is by using double extensions, so make sure you have "Hide file extensions for known filetypes", unticked: http://blog.malwarebytes.org/online-security/2013/12/file-extensions-2/ BTW, All computers using Windows XP 2, Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 are vulnerable to this, and it includes any Apple or Linux based computers running Windows in a virtual environment like Bootcamp, Parallels or VMWare.
  9. The converter is a complete waste of money, make up your own mind what to do with it.
  10. OK, it's safe with a simple adaptor, you don't need a voltage converter.
  11. ONLY if the power supply is dual voltage, and my sis is daft so she doesn't know where to look to find out If it's single voltage, and most of those plug in power supplies are, it will go with a pop as soon as it's plugged into the UK mains As for the "grounded adaptor", that just means it has to have an earth pin, it's nothing to do with connections.

  14. The JW's are a sect, not a religion, and there is a lot of mind control involved. Do a bit of digging and you'll be surprised at what comes up. I dug up lots of info a couple of years ago to prevent a girlfriend from being "dragged" in (I was successful thankfully).
  15. They'll make it half waterproof on the iBone 6
  16. Did you download any movies on that !
  17. If it was a private car park. don't pay it !
  18. TBH, i wouldn't touch W8 with a limp penis ! Rother, I know exactly what you mean. I keep my system as trimmed down as possible, and I take great care to actively block any shite from installing itself without my express permission, but it still slows down over a while, and defrags etc seem to only help a little. At the moment I do a full format and re-install every 6 to 8 months. AND I STILL WONT TOUCH W8 I FUC*ING HATE IT FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN ON OTHER PEOPLES CONFUSERS I've downloaded that prog you linked to, I'll give it a go tomorrow (I'm full of high alcohol content beer right now) and see if it makes a difference.
  19. I have an 8 watt argon laser if you need it . . . . . "No Mr Pikey, I expect you to dice !"
  20. I use Beyond Compare 3 to make triplicate copies of my music drives, it does what it says on the tin, and does it very well.
  21. Welcome back squire, good to hear you've beaten the big C, and congrats on the rest of the stuff. I thought you'd been banged up, it's that long since we saw you :Fun:
  22. Hey Ste, just to refresh your memory . . . . Baz was Angel, Angelbabe is my little rotund sister, for all my sins !!
  23. As long as you have an RCD on the ringmain your connecting into, you could run it as a spur from the nearest socket, or off a switched fused spur if you want to be able to isolate it. BUT, if you don't know exactly how to do this, then do yourself a favour and get an electrician to do the job. The easiest (and safest) DIY method is just to hook it up like an extension lead. i.e. run a flex from the outside socket to the inside one, and just put a 13A plug on the end of it, use an RCD plug if you don't already have one protecting the ringmain at your fuse board. Then plug it in whenever you need to use the outside socket.
