sparks Posted November 22, 2011 Share Posted November 22, 2011 The main drum part could be an old steel dustbin that I've got, and aa old rucksack could be converted for the harness...But how to make the 'skin' is what is puzzling me...Some form of taut tarpaulin perhaps?But how to get it taut is what I'd like to ask.... skipper_jim Posted November 25, 2011 Share Posted November 25, 2011 You get the cloth/skin soaking wet (leave it soaking for a day or so) and stretch it over the bin that you mentioned, you then tie it down as tight as is possible whilst still soaking wet. Once this is done you then dry out the cloth and it will become very taut and will act as a drum skin. By doing it this way the skin/cloth will expand with the water in it and when dried it will retract and tighten up again.
