Alloneword
Still nothing to worry about, well i'd say think again I know it's from the Mail but it looks like it's coming Check it out HERE You should know by now how stupid all govt's are with this info. Doctors will have to pass on dates of birth, postcodes and NHS numbers. Under these proposals, medical confidentiality is, in effect, dead health chiefs admit that ‘patient identifiable components’ will be demanded, including post code and date of birth But a document outlining the scheme even raises the prospect of clinical data being passed on or sold to third parties Patients will not be able to opt out of the system (LOL) Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said he wanted millions of private medical records to be stored and shared between hospitals, GPs, care homes and even local councils No i have not been given this post by Sparks before anyone asks, i just find it funny how we the once great British public have so little control over our own lives now, from my point of view i'm due to see my doc about something on Thursday and i'm now wondering if i should say anything or not, i know if i don't it will cost the taxpayer more in the long run in medication, when will it end will we get free barcodes tattooed on our foreheads. Just a shame IMO All1
Divvy
I dont see what the problem is? maybe I am missing something? but it would not bother me, tbh they probably have access to all of this information now anyway.
Alloneword
So your happy for your medical records to be seen by the local council then? Fair enough but it worries me as in the past i have been able to get certain info as i have a couple of m8's who work for local council and even if there not supposed to have access it's amzing how many people leave themselves logged in and all they have to do is jump on there system for 2 mins and they info they should not get, plus having it sold to 3rd parties, so lets say your impotent due to illness or something i presume you would be happy to have tons of letters coming through the post offering a cheap deal on viagra. Patient confidentiality has beeen smashed IMO. All1
Rother
Of course no one likes the idea that your medical details might be shown to all and sundry and that is the point of the piece in the paper. They like to make you think that some dodgy person is browsing through your papers. But, there are 60 million people in Britain - 60 Million records. Who the hell is going to sort through that lot. Computers can number crunch and give statistics like the worst areas for cancer etc but no one or no organisation is going to sift through 60 million records for juicy bits. Anyway - medical records are already digitized. You go to the hospital and give your doctors name - they have your records immediately. Their are bigger things to worry about sparks er I mean alloneword .

All1 Not too bothered if I am honest allone as I said, in truth all of this information is probably already available, I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it mate, yes it's not good but I am sure if someone has the time to sit looking through someones info they have bigger problems than the person they are reading about. cobra
It's the 3rd party bit I don't like and If the records are on one BIG database you can do a key word search then all the hits you get can then be used to make a database for that key word. Think of it this way ten years from now Rother try's to pull a woman she gets her phone out and points it at him It then comes up on her phone all the tests he has had done (she will know if he as HIV or not) it will come up if he has a record and what it is and then it will come up if he is in work or not and how much he makes. all this in 10sec of some one pointing a camera at you. as this is what it will come too in the LONG RUN.
